Ryan Carney has served as the Community Programs and Outreach Leader for RAM since 2019. We raise funds to provide compassionate acts of care based on referrals. These acts are primarily performed on a nomination basis and carried out for the St. Charles and School District #303 community. To date, RAM has served over 400 acts of kindness.
Valley Sheltered Workshop (VSW) in Batavia strives to create a welcoming community that promotes diversity, inclusivity, and respect for all. Our mission is to provide a space where members can connect, learn, and find their identity. We provide a wide array of activities and events designed to engage and support every community member. We strive to offer something meaningful for everyone, fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging. In doing so, VSW becomes an essential component of the continuum of care for the disabled community, ensuring that our initiatives contribute significantly to their mental health, well-being, and empowerment.
Ryan Carney participates with VSW Board Meetings and helps with fundraising and community awareness efforts. Ryan also interacts with VSW 3 days/ week for his step-mom, Jackie, who is a special needs member.
Fox Valley Jammers Club is a private Facebook group that was initiated by Ryan Carney in March 2023 to connect all the musicians who enjoy jamming at many of the open jams and open mics hosted at roughly 20 venues throughout the Fox Valley. From Elgin to Oswego, nearly 1,100 member musicians of all ages, skill levels and instruments subscribe to FVJC to coordinate about performing several times a week at local open mics as well as about songwriting collaborations, local show announcements and more.
